Notes
The prompt was simple: a pixel game set in the future, about trash. We had seven days at the Royal Danish Academy to ship it.
Pitch: it's been 400 years since any colony in the Origin System interacted with Earth. A Mars colonist crash-lands here, his ship in pieces, and he has to wander the planet figuring out how the locals live — and how to repair his ship — before he can leave.
I owned the visuals: small animations (the title screen GIF, the ooga-booga walk cycle, the tutorial reel), characters, vehicles, and UI screens. Everything pixel, hand-drawn frame-by-frame.
